Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for individual differences.
• Prepare for classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media.
• Strive to implement district philosophy and instructional goals.
• Assess student progress and provide progress reports as required.
• Refer students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
• Maintain records and protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
• Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintain order.
• Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes.
• Plan and supervise assignments for aides/volunteers and evaluate their performance.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Participate in district and campus staff development.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees.
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues.
• Establish open lines of communication with students, parents, and community.
• Prepare and submit lesson plans in the platform used by the school.
• Maintain a minimum number of grades in Gradebook.
• Meet the mentor teacher regularly if new.
