POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: IV Therapy Technician

STATUS: Exempt

We are a full functional medicine clinic dedicated to empowering our clients to thrive through functional wellness! The IV Therapy Technician is responsible for initiating IV access and administering intravenous vitamins, minerals, and other nutrient-based therapies to support client health and wellness. This role plays a key part in delivering a safe, high‑quality clinical experience by monitoring clients throughout their infusion, reviewing medical histories, and making appropriate clinical decisions within scope and protocol.

Essential Functions

• Start and administer IVs and run fluid therapy for the intravenous process.
• Administer IM/SQ injections as indicated.
• Monitor the client’s response to treatment.
• Manage and prevent infections.
• Assess the client’s physical health including vital signs, physical assessment, mental status, etc.
• Identify contraindications to intravenous therapy for the client.
• Take client’s vitals as needed.
• Document interactions and communication with clients regarding therapy services, assessment, and responses/reactions to treatment.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing or graduate of an accredited paramedic or program; current and up‑to‑date license required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Electronic Medical Records and anatomy, medical terminology, and medical practice functions.
• 2 years minimum of vascular access or infusion experience.
• 2 years minimum of leadership or management experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication, customer service, patient confidentiality, applied leadership, multi‑tasking, excellent training skills, self‑motivation, self‑management, problem‑solving, interpersonal skills, time management, independent judgment, resilience, perseverance, organization, patient care, flexibility.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to speak effectively and communicate clearly.
• Ability to hear conversations at an average level.
• Regularly required to type continuously throughout the day and use a computer mouse.
• Must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds unassisted or 100 pounds assisted, and stand, sit, bend, kneel, squat, and walk for long periods.
• Vision requirements: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, 20/20 vision (with or without glasses/contacts).

Working Conditions

This position will work eight (8) to ten (10) hour shifts Monday‑Friday, with occasional weekends required. The clinic environment has climate control and adequate lighting.
