Household: A warm, down-to-earth, and welcoming family in Portola Valley is seeking a full-time Family Assistant/Housekeeper to provide thoughtful childcare and hands‑on household support during evenings and weekends. Their two-year-old loves outdoor adventures, collecting treasures, riding scooters and bikes, attending classes, and exploring nature. The family is also expecting a new baby this fall and is thoughtfully preparing for this exciting transition. Care will generally be focused on one child at a time, with a parent often caring for the other. If the role begins to involve frequent care of both children, the family is open to discussing an increased rate. The household is relaxed, collaborative, and child‑led. The parents prioritize connection, flexibility, and following their child’s cues. One parent is at home full‑time and highly involved in daily caregiving, making this a wonderful fit for someone who genuinely enjoys working in partnership with parents. The other parent travels frequently for work, making reliable evening and weekend support especially valuable. The family also employs a full‑time daytime nanny and a weekly housekeeper. This position provides an additional layer of support during evenings and weekends and is a true hybrid role. When the children are home and need care, childcare will be the priority. When the children are with a parent, attending activities, or otherwise occupied, the Family Assistant/Housekeeper will shift their attention to hands‑on housekeeping and household support.
The ideal candidate is warm, positive, energetic, flexible, and naturally intuitive. They genuinely identify with both sides of a Family Assistant/Housekeeper role and take equal pride in providing exceptional childcare and maintaining a clean, organized home. Comfortable working alongside an involved parent and understand that the rhythm of the day may change, particularly as the family welcomes a newborn. They can confidently step into childcare when needed and just as naturally recognize household tasks that need attention without waiting to be directed. This family is looking for someone who enjoys both childcare and hands‑on housekeeping. The right candidate will be equally comfortable taking a child outside for an adventure, supporting dinner and bedtime, folding family laundry, cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, organizing the home, or helping prepare a family meal. Infant and toddler experience is needed. A candidate who is easy to be around, detail‑oriented, collaborative, adaptable, and eager to become a trusted part of the household for years to come will thrive in this position.
