The Keck School of Medicine at USC seeks TWO full-time Cardiologists specializing in Heart Failure and Transplant. This role involves managing clinical services and contributing to education and research initiatives within a leading academic medical center, providing opportunities for significant patient care and professional growth.
The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, a premier academic medical center specializing in academic medicine, research, and patient care, is seeking TWO Full Time Heart Failure, Transplant and VAD Cardiologist in the Section of Heart Failure / Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. Clinical duties include the inpatient Heart Failure, Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support services as well as outpatient Heart Failure, Heart Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support clinics.
One available faculty position would involve primarily growing the inpatient and outpatient services at our partner hospitals, USC Verdugo Hills Hospital and USC Arcadia Hospital. Around 70% of time will be spent at these hospitals, and 30% of the time will be spent at Keck Medical Center of USC and Los Angeles General Medical Center.
The other available faculty position would involve spending a majority of the time at Keck Medical Center of USC and Los Angeles General Medical Center. In this role, the faculty member will take a lead role in the CICU and HF teaching service at the county hospital as well as the MCS and transplant services at Keck Medical Center. They will also provide coverage at our two partner hospitals as needed. Experience or training in cardiac critical care is preferable.
Other responsibilities may include outreach clinics and events, donor call, and right heart catheterization/ endomyocardial biopsy/ CardioMEMS procedures tailored to the applicant’s experience. The prospective faculty members will also be expected to participate in the research and teaching activities of the Section and Division.
Clinical practice and teaching facilities at the main campus of USC include the Keck Medical Center of USC, LA General Medical Center, and the USC Cardiovascular Institute with clinical and research programs in heart failure, percutaneous valve implants, structural heart disease, electrophysiology, congenital heart disease, and vascular and cardiothoracic surgery. The USC Heart Failure Program is vibrant with growth in heart transplant (30-40 heart transplants, including multiorgan transplant), temporary circulatory support, and durable LVAD. The program also participates in industry and investigator-initiated trials, with an ACGME-accredited Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology Fellowship Training Program.
Applicants must have an MD/DO degree, BC in Cardiovascular Medicine and BC/BE in Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology, and eligible for a California medical license. Clinical experience at an academic medical center is recommended. The successful candidate will receive competitive compensation and appointment in the Department of Medicine at an academic rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
