Job summary

Tops is seeking a Grocery Manager to lead the department and ensure efficient operations in a fast-paced store environment. You will oversee product ordering, receiving, stocking, rotating and displaying, while guiding a team to meet service and financial goals.

Responsibilities include enforcing regulations, maintaining shelf conditions, training staff, and handling paperwork to support daily grocery operations with a focus on accuracy and customer service.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions.
• Possess basic computer skills.
• Possess strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow all regulations and company policies for grocery operations, safety and sanitation.
• Oversee weekly product orders to maintain adequate stock levels.
• Receive, handle, store, stock and rotate products per procedures.
• Aim to meet financial goals including sales, gross profit, and shrink reduction.
• Maintain proper shelf conditions, pricing, cleaning and facing of products.
• Adhere to planned shelf layouts and introduce new or discontinued products.
• Organize training, development and scheduling for grocery associates.
• File necessary paperwork for the grocery department.
• Keep the backroom organized and grocery area well-ordered.
• Direct subordinates in executing action plans and achieving goals.

The mission of all Tops associates is to adhere to the Tops vision of providing a friendly neighborhood store that saves the customer time and money. Grocery manager is responsible for non-perishable grocery products, including full knowledge of product lines and location in store, as well as responsibility for ordering, receiving, stocking, rotating, cutting, and marking product. Manager is also responsible for escorting customer to location of desired product and/or service desk for further assistance while providing attentive and courteous customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow all Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as company policies regarding grocery operations, safety, and sanitation
• Fulfill or oversee weekly product orders while following all proper operating procedure in order to maintain adequate supply levels
• Adhere to company policy through proper receiving, handling, storing, and stocking of product
• Achieve financial goals such as sales, gross profit maximization, as well as minimization of shrink and supply expense
• Maintain proper shelf conditions in regards to pricing, cleaning, straightening, rotating, and facing of product
• Adhere to shelf management as it applies to following suggested plan-o-gram layouts and new/discontinued products
• Selection, training, development and scheduling of grocery associates
• File all necessary paperwork required for the grocery department
• Help keep the backroom clean and orderly by organizing grocery area, making bales, stacking pallets etc.
• Direct subordinates in implementing plan of action and goal attainment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 18 years of age

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions
• Possess basic computer skills
• Possess strong communication skills

• Baler/compactor (must be 18 years of age)
• Case cutter (must be 16 years of age)
• Pallet jacks (must be 18 years of age)

• Ladder (must be 18 yrs of age)
