Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA, invites married couples to join as Full-time Flex Houseparents. The pair will reside in on-campus student homes, supervising a group of 8–13 students and supporting their academic, emotional, and social growth.

Initially, couples work a nine-on/three-off schedule and may transition to a Placed Houseparent role with longer-term living and continuity with the same student group. Salary is $46,917 per person, with full benefits and housing included.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Two-person role for couples married at least two years.
• Both spouses aged 27 or older.
• No more than three dependent children in the home.
• Smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty.
• Pets allowed: fish and one dog of approved breeds.
• Valid U.S. drivers license and ability to become certified to drive student vans.
• Comfort leading daily devotions and Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Integrity and professionalism expected.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship
• Managing household routines and student schedules
• Administering medications and ensuring student wellness
• Driving students to activities and engaging in development and recreational activities
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting
• Initially, nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off; later transition to Placed Houseparent living with the same group of students
• Unscheduled time on weekdays while students are in school
• Participation in the ongoing life of a vibrant, campus community
