The Engineer role is vital to the Hotel Engineering team, focusing on hotel maintenance. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, it involves routine maintenance, guest requests, and ensuring comfort and safety. Key tasks include HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and repairs. Success requires attention to detail, problem-solving, and teamwork. A proactive, innovative, and adaptable approach is essential. The Engineer enhances the guest experience and supports the hotel’s reputation.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of hotel facilities, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and guest room appliances, ensuring all are in optimal working conditionEnsure that all maintenance areas and workshops are kept clean and safe, adhering to hygiene and safety protocols to provide a secure environment for guests and staffRespond promptly to guest requests and maintenance issues, providing effective solutions and ensuring guest satisfaction through professional and courteous serviceAccurately complete and manage work orders, ensuring all tasks are documented and any follow-up actions are noted for efficiency and record-keepingAssist with the inventory and restocking of maintenance supplies and tools, ensuring that necessary materials are available for uninterrupted operationsWork closely with other engineering and maintenance staff, as well as cross-departmental teams, to ensure seamless operations and support the hotel's business objectivesFollow all operational policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with company standards and contributing to the hotel's successOperate all maintenance equipment safely and responsibly, and promptly report any issues or needed repairs to the appropriate personnelReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Other Essential Duties: (Continued)Attends hotel and department meetings and other functions required by managementCommunicates all pertinent information to all department headsMust be available to work weekends and holidaysArrives to work on time, ready to clock in, in a clean/pressed uniform and non-slip shoes.Must maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.Wears name tag at all times when at workMust be attentive, courteous and efficient at all times when dealing with the Guests and co-workersComply at all times with compliance standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operationsEstablish and maintain good communications and teamwork with all employees and other departments within the hotel in such a manner that promotes harmony throughout the workplaceBe familiar with all policies and hotel rules, and hotel terminologyMust be capable of self-supervision and have the ability to manage time accordingly in order to complete the required workQualifications Requirements:A minimum of 1 year of progressive experience in a maintenance or engineering role within a hotel environmentMinimum age requirement of 18 yearsKnowledge and Skills:Handle various maintenance and repair tasks while ensuring excellent guest serviceAdjust to guests' needs and prioritize maintenance requests in a dynamic and busy hotel environmentPrioritize maintenance tasks and manage time effectively, especially during peak operational periodsAccurately complete maintenance logs and records, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standardsRemain calm and effectively manage emergencies to ensure guest safety and satisfactionReasoning Ability:As an Engineer, strong reasoning is essential for addressing guest inquiries and resolving technical issues efficiently. Attentive listening helps tackle concerns effectively.In a fast-paced environment, anticipating maintenance challenges and guest needs prevents issues from escalating. These skills ensure informed decisions that uphold Hotels’ standards, providing a seamless guest experience and team support.Physical Demands:• Stand for extended periods• Walk frequently throughout the hotel• Minimal sitting during shifts• Normal neck movements required for inspections• Lift up to 10–50 pounds for equipment and supplies• Carry items up to 20 feet• Moderate reaching for tools and equipment• Occasionally lift items overhead• Frequently lift items from waist to chest• Occasionally use ladders for elevated tasks• Rarely crawl, except when necessary for tasks• Rarely balance on uneven surfaces• Rarely crouch, except when accessing low equipment• Kneel intermittently for repairs• Push/pull up to 150 pounds occasionally• Bend frequently• Twist frequently during inspections and repairs• Use hands continuously for handling tools and performing repairs• Use feet continuously for mobility throughout hotel• Climb stairs as needed during shifts to access different hotel floorsReasonable accommodations may be arranged to assist individuals with disabilities in performing these essential functions.Work Environment:The work environment for an Engineer involves both indoor and outdoor settings.
