Job summary

Onward Education is hiring a dedicated Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, onsite in Montgomery County, PA. This full-time role supports emotional and functional skill development for Life Skills students in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams.

You will participate in IEP planning, provide student-centered instruction, and maintain accurate documentation while adhering to district policies and privacy standards.

Qualifications

• Valid PA teaching license for Special Education.
• Experience teaching Emotional Support students.
• CPI/Safety training or similar crisis prevention.
• Experience with PBSPs, SEL curricula, trauma-informed practices.
• Knowledge of IEP processes and compliance.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to build structured learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction and support for students in a Life Skills classroom setting.
• Develop and implement instruction focused on functional academics, daily living skills, independence, and social communication.
• Support student goals aligned to IEPs, including skill-building for school participation and long-term independence.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning, goal development, and progress reporting.
• Maintain accurate documentation for services provided, progress monitoring, and compliance requirements.
• Use evidence-based strategies to support behavior, communication, and functional skill development in the school environment.
• Ensure compliance with special education regulations and district policies.
