National Heritage Academies in Lansing, MI is seeking a full-time Paraprofessional to support English Language Learners and students with disabilities. The role involves 35 hours per week, with 20 hours on ELL and 15 hours on Special Education, within an urban K-8 school setting.

You will collaborate with teachers, participate in professional development, and help implement IEP/504 plans while maintaining a safe, supportive classroom environment that promotes holistic student growth.

Qualifications

• Must meet state requirements for being a Title 1 paraprofessional.
• Bilingual skills, preferred.
• Previous experience working with English as a second language students or with school-aged children, preferred.
• Ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and/or mathematics.
• Aptitude to understand and navigate technical systems.
• Ability to defuse situations and prevent escalation.
• Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or behavior modifications, preferred.

Responsabilités

• Assess ELL student abilities and provide academic intervention in 1:1 or small group settings per teachers.
• Commit to educating the whole student—academically, morally, and socially.
• Attend professional development and meetings with teachers and parents.
• Assess student abilities and provide instructional/behavioral support per IEP/504 plans.
• Implement curriculum/instruction tailored to each student's needs (IEP/504), including resource room or pullout.
• Attend IEP meetings, trainings, and special education team meetings.
• Assist with compliance documentation.
