Job summary

Skillpoint Alliance in Texas seeks two Full-time Electrical Instructors to lead Pre-Apprentice Electrical classes in New Braunfels and the Greater San Antonio area. You will take students with no experience and prepare them for apprenticeships with regional employers, focusing on safety, tool use, and hands-on wiring basics.

You’ll deliver hands-on instruction from our established curriculum, run labs, keep the lab safe and stocked, and mentor students toward graduation and employment.

• Flexible schedule and ability to respond to short-notice teaching needs.

Responsibilities

• Keep the classroom and lab safe, organized, and stocked; prepare materials and equipment for each session.
• Coach and encourage students, and work with program staff to get every student to graduation and into a job.
• Protect the confidentiality of participant information.
• Stay current on industry trends and NEC code changes.

We’re hiring two experienced electricians to lead our Pre-Apprentice Electrical classes, one in New Braunfels and one in the greater San Antonio area. You’ll take students with no experience and get them job-ready: safe on a job site, confident with tools, and prepared to start as apprentices with employers across the region. If you’ve ever trained a helper and liked it, this is that, full-time.

WHAT YOU’ll DO

• Deliver hands-on instruction from our established curriculum, adjusting lesson plans to fit each class
• Run hands-on labs, including device wiring basics and hand bending to Greenlee standards
• Keep the classroom and lab safe, organized, and stocked; prepare materials and equipment for each session
• Coach and encourage students, and work with program staff to get every student to graduation and into a job
• Protect the confidentiality of participant information
• Stay current on industry trends and NEC code changes
• Basics of wiring devices
• Basics of hand bending in accordance with Greenlee standards
• Collaborate with program staff to ensure student success
• Maintain confidentiality of participant information

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to teach practical electrical skills in a classroom and lab setting
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Flexible schedule and ability to respond to short-notice teaching needs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior teaching or training experience (instructor or on-the-job mentoring)
• OSHA certification
• Familiarity with online teaching platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Suite)
• Strong organizational skills and self-motivation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and electrical equipment
• Work environment includes a classroom and hands-on lab space
• Moderate computer work for instructional preparation and delivery

PAY AND BENEFITS

• $65,000–$72,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications
