Job summary

YMCA of Southern Nevada is hiring an Assistant Preschool Teacher to support the lead teacher in the classroom and engage children throughout the day. This is a full-time, in-person position located at the YMCA in Las Vegas, NV.

The role emphasizes interaction with children, behavior management, parent communication, and collaboration with the teaching team. A high school diploma with early childhood study is required, and bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred to support a diverse

Qualifications

• High school diploma and six semester hours of early or elementary childhood study required.
• Two years’ experience in the field of early or elementary childcare preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish/ English strongly preferred.
• Strong skills in: communication, leadership, judgment, and creativity.
• Minimum age of 18.

Responsibilities

• Interact, initiate and encourage the children in activities during the day.
• Help the children control behavior using a positive approach and YMCA behavior management techniques.
• Maintain good communication with parents and help them feel at ease in the school.
• Assist the lead teacher in planning activities and provide observations about the children when needed.
• Develop a cooperative and supportive attitude within the room.
• Assist with record keeping by passing on observations regarding health, behavior and development.
