Job summary

The Learning Experience Cascade in Grand Rapids, MI is hiring a Full-Time Assistant Teacher to support Lead Teachers and create engaging, developmentally appropriate activities for young children. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, with training provided to help you grow.

No prior career path is required—just reliability, a love of children, and eagerness to learn. Benefits include health, dental and vision coverage, PTO, and opportunities to advance within early childhood education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous childcare, daycare, preschool, or experience working with children preferred.
• Professional early childhood experience is a plus, but not required.
• CDA or Early Childhood Education coursework is a plus.
• Willingness to learn and complete required training.
• Reliable, positive, patient, and team-oriented.
• Must meet Michigan licensing requirements for the position.

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Teachers with classroom activities and daily routines.
• Engage children through stories, art, music, movement, sensory activities, and play.
• Assist with meals, rest time, diapering, toileting, and transitions as appropriate.
• Encourage positive social interactions and growing independence.
• Use positive guidance and age-appropriate classroom management.
• Help maintain classroom supervision and required ratios.
• Build positive relationships with children and families.
• Maintain clean, safe, organized, and welcoming classrooms.
• Collaborate with teachers and center leadership.
• Follow Michigan licensing and center requirements.
