Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Communication or a related field with at least 18 hours of graduate work in Communication.
  • Demonstrated college teaching experience.
  • Strong commitment to undergraduate education and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience teaching online classes.

Any qualifications to be considered in lieu of stated minimums require the prior approval of the Human Resources Director.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Communication or a related field. Candidates who are near completion of their Ph.D. will be considered.
  • Experience teaching dual credit courses in public speaking and other basic Communication courses.
  • Experience teaching online, synchronous and asynchronous classes using Blackboard.
  • Familiarity with dual credit curriculum and academic standards.
Primary Responsibilities

Start date: 8/26/2025

Responsibilities include teaching a 5/5 load (5 dual credit courses each long semester) in Communication, primarily the COMM 1315 (Public Speaking). Each class will have a max of 25 students, and each will be taught from a pre-designed course shell. The instructor will update course materials, facilitate engaging online learning experiences, and assess student performance. The instructor will also conduct core assessments and provide required documentation at the end of each term. Other duties may be assigned if dual credit needs fall below 5 courses per semester.
