Tops Markets is seeking a friendly Deli Clerk to join our neighborhood store team. You will store, prepare, and maintain deli products, and provide attentive service to customers in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of basic math, reading and writing, and strong communication are essential. You will operate a cash register and kitchen equipment, and follow safety, sanitation, and company policies to keep products fresh and customers satisfied. Flexibility with shifts is helpful.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old to work in deli operations.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions.
• Possess strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow all regulations and company policies for prepared foods, safety, and sanitation.
• Provide attentive customer service about ready-made meals and deli products.
• Maintain clean and sanitary conditions at all times.
• Follow recipes and cooking instructions for product preparation and packaging.
• Maintain proper shelf and cooler conditions; stock, clean, and rotate products.
• Adhere to shrink guidelines and track discards.
• Ensure proper temperatures and operation of cases and equipment.
• Complete all necessary paperwork and reports as required.
• Follow directions from the Deli Manager and perform assigned tasks.

SUMMARY

The mission of all Tops associates is to adhere to the Tops vision of providing a friendly neighborhood store that saves the customer time and money. The deli clerk must possess reasonable knowledge in storing, preparing, and maintaining deli products. The clerk is also responsible for providing remarkable customer service at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow all Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as company policies regarding prepared food operations, safety, and sanitation
• Provide attentive and courteous customer service by fulfilling customer questions about prepared foods products (i.e.: ready-made meals, packaged salads and subs)
• Maintain a "clean as you go" policy to ensure sanitary conditions at all times
• Adhere to company policy through proper processing, preparation, and packaging of product (i.e.: following recipes and cooking instructions)
• Maintain proper shelf, cooler, and case conditions, such as stocking, cleaning, and rotating product
• Follow all store Shrink guidelines with regard to keeping track of all discards
• Ensure proper temperatures and working condition of cases (hot and cold) as well as maintaining all equipment
• Complete all necessary paperwork
• Follow direction from the Deli Manager, perform tasks as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 18 years of age to enter/work on the deli side of the department

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions
• Possess basic computer skills
• Possess strong communication skills
