Description

The Custodian at Seaside Charter will perform multiple maintenance and safety tasks that promote a clean and safe working environment for the building’s employees and students.

Essential Functions

• Facilitate general and deep cleaning activities for glass, mirrors, floorwork, and additional items as needed.
• Ensure adherence to OSHA, MSDS, and maximum safety procedures.
• Perform routine maintenance on facilities and make repairs as needed.
• Participate in training programs offered to increase skills and proficiency in assignments.
• Review current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to job responsibility.
• Follow federal and state laws and company policies.
• May be required to travel to obtain materials (track mileage, time, materials, and tools).
• Oversight of special projects.
• Facilitate and troubleshoot ongoing custodial and janitorial issues within schools.
• Track and report status of open projects.
• Estimate time and materials costs of proposed projects for budget and accountability.
• Ensure that each facility is secure (locked) and the security system activated at the end of each night shift.
• Supervise and/or participate in set up and tear down of special events and closing procedures.
• Prepare facilities for changing weather conditions.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
• Assist SSC administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
• Maintain teaching day schedule of 8 AM to 3:45 PM and evening/weekend as scheduled.
• Attend mid-August and End of Year meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in building maintenance trades, preferred
• Knowledge of Public Waldorf pedagogy
• Knowledge of public-school requirements

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

• Physically skilled and able to address all types of custodial maintenance issues within the school(s)
• Hands-on knowledge in the safe operation of a variety of tools, machinery, and power equipment
• Basic knowledge of OSHA, MSDS, state and local fire codes and inspections processes
• Knowledge of custodial/janitorial trade and facilities maintenance requirements including ability to understand, communicate, manage, and deal effectively with vendors, contractors, and suppliers
• Strong knowledge and understanding of custodial services, cleaning chemicals, and cleaning equipment
• Ability to perform intermediate level mathematical functions and calculations
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel
• Ability to manage online documents of service requests and utilize time and material tracking programs
