Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Full Time Culinary Coordinator to support multiple district kitchens, oversee daily operations, and lead food service teams. You will implement new menu ideas and ensure compliance with federal meal programs.

The role requires hands-on training, strong communication, and the ability to adapt to different school locations while maintaining high-quality, nutritious meals for students.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced school food service environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to train and provide direction to food service staff.
  • Ability to utilize POS and other computer systems.
  • Ability to complete required financial closing procedures accurately.
  • Knowledge of food preparation, food safety, and food service operations.
  • Ability to adapt to different school locations, food service teams, and operational needs.
  • Commitment to providing nutritious, high-quality meals to students.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a site leader as needed and provide support to cafeteria site leaders and food service teams throughout the district.
  • Rotate between school buildings and provide coverage based on the operational needs of the Food Services Department.
  • Assist with implementing, testing, and executing new menu items, culinary ideas, recipes, and food-service initiatives.
  • Explain new procedures, recipes, equipment, or ideas to food service staff and provide hands-on training as needed.
  • Complete required end-of-day procedures, including daily reports, drawer reconciliation, deposits, and other closing responsibilities as needed.
  • Assist with assuming quality of well-balanced, appealing meals to school-age children while following applicable federal school meal requirements to ensure all buildings are uniform.
  • Communicate operational needs, challenges, and recommendations to the Food Service Director, Assistant Food Service Director and/or Food Service Administrative Assistant.
  • Assist with maintaining an efficient, organized, and positive work environment for food service staff.
  • Works with Assistant Food Service Director to ensure adequate daily staffing and fills in as needed per staffing needs.
  • Assists as needed with ordering/inventory per Assistant Food Service Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director, Assistant Director of Food Service, or the Food Service Secretary.

Full Time - School Term (10 Months-189 days), Monday-Friday 7:30 AM- 3:30 PM

Summary:
The Food Service Culinary Coordinator will provide culinary, operational, and leadership support throughout the school district. This position will work at multiple locations throughout the district based on the needs of the Food Service Department and will assist with overseeing daily kitchen operations in collaboration with the Food Service Director, Cafeteria Manager, and Lead Food Service Worker. The Culinary Coordinator will help ensure that students receive high-quality, well-balanced meals that meet district standards and comply with the National School Breakfast Program, National School Lunch Program, and Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010.
