Job summary

The Actors Fund Home in Englewood, NJ is seeking a full-time Cook to perform food preparation and cooking services for residents and staff in accordance with food safety regulations to ensure quality meals and service at all times.

Hourly range and schedule: 5:00am to 1:30pm or 10:30am to 7:00pm, 40 hours weekly, with occasional weekend/holiday coverage. Nursing home cooking experience and ServSafe certification preferred or achievable within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of experience with institutional cooking in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets for nursing home residents.
• ServSafe Certified or able to certify within 90 days.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to work with others in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals for residents and staff in accordance with food safety regulations and dietary recommendations.
• Maintain a high standard of food preparation, sanitation, storage, and portion control.
• Determine food and supplies needed for daily menus and obtain supplies in time for production.
• Plan production to align with meal serving hours while preserving quality and appearance.
• Assist in scheduled cleaning duties following sanitary standards.
• Assist in supervising dietary functions in absence of supervisor.
