Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Great Bend is hiring a Patient Care Assistant (CNA) for the Med Surg unit on a full-time daytime shift. The role acts as an unlicensed team member supporting the RN with delegated tasks while delivering compassionate, safe patient care.

Ideal candidates will know CNA functions, have a HS diploma or GED, and at least 6 months of medical center experience; BLS is preferred. Strong teamwork and accurate documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of general nursing assistant functions
• High School Diploma OR GED
• 6 months medical center experience
• Courses in medical terminology

Responsibilities

• Collects initial and ongoing data as delegated in regards to the health status of the patient based on chart documentation.
• Follows an individualized plan of care that promotes positive immediate and long-term outcomes for the patient/family and reflects the plan of the entire health care team.
• Carries out interventions safely and in compliance with policy to facilitate achievement of expected outcomes as delegated.
• Accurately documents patient response to intervention /therapy based upon expected outcomes.
• Carries out delegated patient care activities and communicates with other members of the healthcare team as evidenced by positive patient outcomes.
