Full-Time - Library Clerk Driver Job Posting

The Hunterdon County Library (HCL) is seeking an energetic team-oriented candidate with a strong public service commitment to join the HCL team in the Operational Services Department. The Operational Services Department, Extension Services unit, helps with the delivery of materials to libraries and schools, drives vans and the bookmobile to extend library services into the community, performs tasks within the Technical Services unit, and staffs the circulation desks as needed. This position is based at the Headquarters Library on Route 12.

The Hunterdon County Library System consists of two regional libraries, one small satellite library, outreach vehicles and ongoing support to six affiliated libraries within the County of Hunterdon. The library is also a member of the M.A.I.N. library consortium which includes 49 libraries. The current staff consists of over 60 full and part-time employees. RESPONSIBILITIES (MAY INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO)

• Drives the bookmobile to outreach events and any routine stops
• Performs routine clerical work, including processing library materials, submitting orders for supplies
• Maintains records, inventory, and files.
• Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the library.
• Prepares (pack/unpack) library materials being sent to or sent from MAIN libraries through outside courier
• Drives a motor vehicle for the purpose of transporting supplies, library materials.
• May track minor periodic vehicle maintenance services such as washing, polishing, and checking and replenishing gas, monitoring oil, water, tires, and batteries on library vehicles and bookmobile.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of safe driving principles.
• Ability to understand, remember and carry out oral and written directions.
• Ability to practice safe driving rules and regulations.
• Ability to check, clean, and perform minor periodic maintenance services to vehicles.
• Ability to maintain records, inventory, and files.
• Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.

• Appointees must possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey. - initial appointment
