Job summary

Archbishop Neale School in La Plata, MD is seeking a Junior High Religion Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This full-time, on-site role reports to the Principal and requires certification as a Catechist.

The teacher will deliver Catholic-based instruction, align lessons with Archdiocese standards, assess student progress, maintain classroom management, and collaborate with families to support student growth and faith formation.

Qualifications

• Current teacher certification in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC (candidates have 3 years from hire to earn their certification).
• Knowledge of child development and supervision.
• Experience teaching in an elementary school setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create lesson plans aligned with Archdiocese standards and address diverse learners.
• Deliver a balanced program of instruction with direct instruction, guided practice and hands-on activities.
• Administer formal and informal assessments and differentiate instruction accordingly.
• Maintain a grade book, monitor progress and communicate with parents and administration.
• Foster Catholic identity, lead liturgical activities and integrate faith formation into lessons.
• Perform non-instructional duties and support school activities as required.
