Job summary

Hugo's Family Marketplace in Grand Forks, ND is seeking a friendly Cashier to deliver exceptional service at the checkout. You will handle transactions, assist customers with product locations, and keep the checkout area neat and welcoming.

Responsibilities include greeting customers, operating the POS, giving accurate change, and following store policies. This role supports the team across departments and contributes to a positive shopping experience for all customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to handle cash responsibly and maintain confidentiality.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus but not required.
• Basic math skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and assist them with inquiries to enhance their shopping experience.
• Operate the point of sale (POS) system to process sales transactions, including cash, credit, and debit purchases.
• Handle cash responsibly, make change accurately, and count the cash register at the beginning of each shift.
• Assist customers with product information and location within the store.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area to ensure a welcoming environment.
• Follow store policies and procedures, including security and loss prevention measures, to protect company assets.
• Provide support in other areas of the store as needed, contributing to a team-oriented environment.
