Job summary

ProMedica’s Defiance Regional Hospital Cardiac Rehab Department seeks a Cardiac Rehab Therapist to support rehabilitation goals through prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. You will participate in planning care, evaluating progress, recording results, and communicating with the health care team.

You will educate patients on cardiac rehab, lead clinical instruction for nursing, medical students and residents, and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure safe, effective care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Allied Health/Science area as minimum qualification.
• Comprehensive knowledge of exercise physiology.
• Thorough knowledge of cardiovascular pathology, testing and treatment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, care navigators and administrators.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic procedures within scope of practice.
• Develops individual plan of care (ITP) with patient and rehab team guidance.
• Provides ECG monitoring, oxygen administration and exercise equipment handling.
• Delivers patient education for risk factors, lifestyle modification, and home programs.
• Assists with clinical instruction of students and new staff.
• Participates in performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Follows hospital policies and documents patient care and billing accurately.
• Maintains competency across cardiac rehab activities and team communication.
• Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
