Job summary

The University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College is seeking full-time Security Officers for its Campus Police. The role involves patrolling campus facilities, responding to alarms, monitoring events, and assisting students, staff, and visitors with safety and access.

Qualifications

• Must pass state BCI and FBI background checks.
• Valid driver’s license to operate security vehicles.
• CPR and first-aid training completed within 3 months of hire.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work irregular hours and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Patrol university property and buildings by foot, vehicle, or bicycle to ensure security and safety.
• Respond to alarms, emergency calls, and requests for assistance.
• Monitor events and control access to facilities, issue passes, and safeguard property.
• Provide safety escorts and assist visitors, staff, and students as needed.
• Investigate incidents and coordinate with local law enforcement when required.
• Perform safety checks and enforce parking and traffic regulations.
• Supervise officers in absence of shift supervisor and maintain records.
