Washtenaw Community College seeks a Custodian for a regular full-time position in Facilities. The role supports campus cleanliness across floors, classrooms and common areas with routine job duties and safety compliance.

The position requires 40 hours per week with shift flexibility to meet college needs. Responsibilities include floor care, carpet cleaning, restroom stocking, waste removal and event setup.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• One year of full-time related work experience.
• Able to obtain aerial lift certification within 90 days of employment.
• Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.
• Read/write and basic math skills required.
• Operate and maintain custodial floor machines (scrubbers, vacuums).
• Familiar with work order software and basic computer use.
• Interact professionally with clients, coworkers and management.
• Ability to use AI-enabled tools to support tasks while maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain hard floor surfaces (tile, concrete, wood).
• Clean and maintain carpets; vacuum, spot clean and extract.
• Disinfect and stock rest rooms and locker rooms.
• Collect and remove trash and recyclables per procedures.
• Dust walls, doors, windows, glass, drinking fountains, and surfaces.
• Maintain classroom chalkboards, whiteboards and erasers.
• Tidy building entrances and report damages.
• Plan and document major cleaning tasks and projects.
• Maintain custodial supplies and equipment maintenance.
