Job summary

Biddeford School Department is seeking a Bus Driver for the Biddeford Transportation Department (High-Needs School). Starting Fall 2025, this full-time, school-year position offers a 5-hour daily schedule, 25 hours per week with extra hours for charter trips, and on-the-job learning with CDL training opportunities.

Under supervision of the Director of Transportation, you will transport students and staff safely, maintain discipline, and report incidents promptly while supporting parental

Qualifications

  • Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's (DMV) License.
  • Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe transportation of students and staff from pickup locations to destinations.
  • Maintains order and discipline in an effective and courteous manner among students being transported in accordance with district policies and procedures; reports any incidents involving student discipline.
  • Ensures that a communication devicesarein proper working order before each trip.
  • Promptly reports all mechanical deficiencies, traffic violations, or accidents.
  • Observes and tracks route timing, such as total time en route, time between stops, loading and unloading times, or any other requested information for the purpose of establishing route efficiency, as requested.
  • Maintains and submits records and reports as required.
  • Follows procedures to ensure that no child is left alone on a bus or van without adult supervision at any time, and that all children have departed bus at the end of all routes (morning, evening and during field trips or other special trips).
  • Adapting instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs
  • Encouraging parental involvement in students' education.

Specific Job Details

Starting Fall 2025

Under the general supervision of the Director of Transportation, to ensure the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips.

Brief Job Duties

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:

  • Responsible for the safe transportation of students and staff from pickup locations to destinations.
  • Maintains order and discipline in an effective and courteous manner among students being transported in accordance with district policies and procedures; reports any incidents involving student discipline.
  • Ensures that a communication devicesarein proper working order before each trip.

Experience

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.

Certification/License
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's (DMV) License.
  • Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education
