Associate Therapist Position Summary

PSI Health (PSI) specializes in treating substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health for a wide range of professionals, including physicians, attorneys, and executives, in high-stress, high-accountability roles.

The Associate Therapist is a dynamic clinical role designed to support multiple facets of PSI’s PHP and IOP treatment programs, including day, evening, and weekend services. This role blends clinical care, admissions, administrative coordination, compliance & quality assurance, and team collaboration to ensure high-quality, client-centered treatment delivery. The ideal candidate is flexible, detail-oriented, and skilled in both individual and group work.

The position requires knowledge about substance use disorders, trauma, psychiatric diagnoses, and familiarity with healthcare professionals (particularly physicians). The therapist collaborates with a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and counselors.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
  • Conduct comprehensive intake evaluations for new admissions and contribute to individualized treatment planning.
  • Facilitate therapy groups across PHP and IOP levels of care.
  • Conduct and and complete designated portions of MCAP assessments in accordance with program and regulatory standards.
  • Provide coverage for Evening IOP and Aftercare programming as needed.
  • Serve as the primary staff member facilitating Saturday Programming.
  • Complete treatment planning and case management services.
  • Deliver individual therapy as clinically indicated and based on program needs.
  • Offer crisis intervention support in collaboration with the clinical team.
  • Support case management functions, including care coordination, referrals, and discharge planning.
Program Support & Coverage
  • Act as a liaison between PSI clinical team and Utilization Review (UR) for timely updates and documentation needs as needed
  • Collaborate with the Admissions Team to ensure smooth onboarding of new clients and accurate EMR documentation.
  • Support the MCAP (Multidisciplinary Clinical Assessment Program) as needed.
Quality Assurance & EMR
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR system for all client interactions.
  • Participate in clinical documentation review processes to ensure compliance and quality standards.
  • Assist with chart audits and flag missing documentation for follow-up.
  • Review team documentation to identify gaps or inconsistencies and provide feedback as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Compliance Team to ensure documentation standards, regulatory requirements, and Joint Commission guidelines are consistently met.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education – Minimum master’s degree from an accredited College or University in counseling psychology, social work, behavioral science, or related field.

Schedule / Benefits
  • Core Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 8:00am-4:00pm
  • Flexibility is required to provide coverage for evening programming, as well as to adjust for staffing needs.
  • Salary starting at $50,000
