Job Summary

Supporting the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager oversees store operations with minimal supervision. Using GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model, the role involves developing a sales culture by creating personalized solutions for guests and providing outstanding service through professional conduct and passion for gaming. Responsibilities include ensuring products are well-presented, building sales through product knowledge, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and growing guest loyalty. The position supervises Sales Associates and Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional guest service: greet guests, respond to questions, assist with gaming needs, inform about promotions, recommend products, and thank guests.
  • Support the shopping environment, sales initiatives, and guest relationships to encourage repeat business.
  • Process transactions accurately using POS system, ensuring excellent guest service.
  • Respond to guest inquiries in person and over the phone; escalate issues when necessary.
  • Promote guest benefits like reservations, trade-in, and loyalty programs.
  • Assist in training and setting performance expectations for store staff.
  • Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and document performance in HR systems.
  • Ensure staff complete onboarding and training prior to shifts.
  • Schedule staff to meet store needs, ensuring optimal customer service.
  • Manage payroll, including time off and edits.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and proper functioning of fixtures and equipment.
  • Fulfill omni-channel orders daily.
  • Protect assets through inventory control and loss prevention.
  • Support sales, profit, and shrinkage goals, and complete administrative duties.
  • Conduct inventory counts and organize stock.
  • Reconcile daily transactions and ensure accurate banking procedures.
  • Inspect shipments, process recalls, and manage stock pulls.
  • Address safety concerns and report injuries promptly.
  • Maintain organized store records and manuals.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks in the Store Manager's absence.
  • Adhere to all company policies, including opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; higher education preferred.
  • Retail management experience preferred.
  • Retail sales or guest service experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of video games is a plus.
Skills and Abilities
  • Outgoing personality with strong people skills.
  • Genuine assistance to guests.
  • Excellent communication skills, bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Compensation
