Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations. Using elements of GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model, the Assistant Store Manager develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized solutions for each guest and providing outstanding service through professional conduct and a shared passion for gaming. Responsibilities include ensuring products are visible and accessible, building sales through product knowledge, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and growing guest loyalty. This role supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.

Responsibilities include:
  • Providing excellent guest service: greeting guests, responding to questions, assisting with gaming needs, informing about promotions, recommending items, and thanking guests for shopping.
  • Supporting the store environment, sales initiatives, and guest relationships to encourage repeat business.
  • Processing transactions accurately using the POS system, including returns and exchanges.
  • Responding to guest inquiries in person and over the phone, and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Promoting GameStop’s guest benefits like reservations, trade-in, and loyalty programs.
  • Assisting in training and setting service expectations for store associates.
  • Monitoring and providing feedback on associate performance.
  • Ensuring store associates complete onboarding and training before shifts.
  • Scheduling staff, managing payroll, and ensuring store coverage.
  • Maintaining store cleanliness, organization, and proper merchandising.
  • Fulfilling Omni-Channel orders daily.
  • Implementing inventory control and loss prevention practices.
  • Supporting sales, profit, and shrinkage goals.
  • Performing inventory counts, restocking, and moving products.
  • Reconciling daily transactions and preparing bank deposits.
  • Checking shipments for discrepancies and managing defective stock.
  • Addressing safety concerns and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Maintaining organized store records and manuals.
  • Supervising staff in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Adhering to company policies and procedures, including opening and closing protocols.
Qualifications:
  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
  • Retail management experience preferred.
  • Retail sales or guest service experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge is a plus.
