Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations. Using elements of GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model, the Assistant Store Manager develops a sales culture by creating individualized solutions for guests and providing outstanding service through professional conduct and a shared passion for gaming. Responsibilities include ensuring products are visible and accessible, building sales through product knowledge, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and growing guest loyalty. This role supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent guest service: greet guests, respond to questions promptly, assist with gaming needs, promote promotions, recommend items, and thank guests.
  • Support the shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, sales initiatives, and guest relationships.
  • Process transactions accurately using POS system, ensuring top guest service.
  • Respond to guest comments/questions in person or via phone; escalate issues when necessary.
  • Promote guest benefits like reservations, trade-in, and loyalty programs.
  • Assist in training and setting service expectations for store staff.
  • Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and ensure training completion.
  • Ensure store cleanliness, organization, and proper merchandising.
  • Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
  • Implement inventory control and loss prevention practices.
  • Support sales and profit goals, and complete administrative duties.
  • Conduct inventory counts, restock, and organize merchandise.
  • Reconcile daily transactions and prepare bank deposits.
  • Inspect shipments, process recalls, and manage stock pulls.
  • Maintain safety and report hazards or injuries.
  • Keep store records organized and up-to-date.
  • Supervise staff in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures, including opening/closing routines.
Qualifications
  • Proof of identity and legal work eligibility in the U.S.
  • Minimum age 18.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Retail management experience preferred.
  • Retail sales/guest service experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Outgoing personality with strong people skills.
  • Genuine assistance to guests.
  • Strong communication skills; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
