Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. Using elements of GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model, the Circle of Life, the Assistant Store Manager develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming. You will be responsible for ensuring that products are easy to see and buy, building sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, providing a clean, organized environment in which to shop, and growing guest loyalty and repeat business. This position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to guest questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at GameStop; prioritize guests over tasks and demonstrate that commitment by circulating throughout the store.
  2. Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  3. Process transactions: promptly and accurately process guest purchases/return transactions using Point‐of‐Sale (POS) computer system via PC keyboard, including making correct changes, placing merchandise in a bag, providing a receipt, and ensuring top-notch guest service.
  4. Respond to guest inquiries: in person or on the phone; answer phone calls promptly, courteously, and professionally, using the phone greeting provided by GameStop; escalate customer issues and complaints to the Store Manager when appropriate.
  5. Promote guest benefits: such as new title reservations program, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards guest loyalty program.
  6. Assist in training: support the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for store associates and training them in all aspects of their responsibilities, including policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  7. Performance feedback: observe associate performance, provide timely feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance, ensuring alignment with company standards.
  8. Recognition and training: provide timely recognition and feedback to store associates; input performance feedback into HR systems in partnership with the Store Manager.
  9. Onboarding and compliance: ensure associates complete onboarding, training, and compliance requirements before working independently, covering policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethics.
  10. Scheduling: in partnership with the Store Manager, schedule store associates following guidelines, ensuring adequate coverage and customer service levels.
  11. Payroll and time management: approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify accurate compensation for all hours worked.
  12. Store maintenance: ensure the store, including restrooms, is clean, organized, and merchandised, and all equipment is functional.
  13. Order fulfillment: ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily.
  14. Asset protection: control inventory and prevent loss through effective practices; inspect packages and belongings at shift end, report concerns.
  15. Sales and operational goals: support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrinkage targets; perform inventory counts, restocking, and product movement.
  16. Financial reconciliation: reconcile daily transactions, complete closeout paperwork, and manage cash and deposits.
  17. Shipment processing: verify shipments, record discrepancies, and manage stock pulls accurately.
  18. Safety: maintain awareness of safety hazards, address hazards immediately, and report injuries.
  19. Record keeping: maintain organized store records and manuals.
  20. Supervision: delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
  21. Policy adherence: follow all company policies and procedures, including opening and closing routines.
