Job Overview

Supporting the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager oversees store operations with minimal supervision. They develop a sales culture based on GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model, the Circle of Life, and provide outstanding guest service. Responsibilities include ensuring product visibility, building sales through product knowledge, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and supervising staff in the absence of the Store Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide exceptional guest service: greet guests, respond to inquiries, recommend products, promote promotions, and thank guests for shopping.
  2. Support the store environment, including visual merchandising and operational initiatives.
  3. Process transactions accurately using POS system, ensuring excellent guest service.
  4. Address guest comments and escalate issues when necessary.
  5. Promote guest benefits like reservations, trade-in, and loyalty programs.
  6. Assist in training and setting expectations for store staff.
  7. Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and recognize achievements.
  8. Ensure staff complete onboarding and training prior to shifts.
  9. Manage staff scheduling, ensuring optimal coverage and adherence to guidelines.
  10. Approve payroll and manage time-off requests.
  11. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and proper functioning of fixtures and equipment.
  12. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
  13. Implement inventory control and loss prevention practices.
  14. Supervise stock counts, restocking, and product organization.
  15. Reconcile daily transactions and manage bank deposits.
  16. Inspect shipments and record discrepancies.
  17. Handle defective products and recalls accurately.
  18. Prioritize safety and address hazards promptly.
  19. Maintain organized store records and manuals.
  20. Supervise staff in the absence of the Store Manager.
  21. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Proof of legal right to work in the U.S.
  • Minimum 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Retail management experience preferred.
  • Retail sales or guest service experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of video games is a plus.
