Job description

Supervisory Role in Customer Service Department

Supervise up to 120 associates in the Customer Service Department, including cashiers, baggers, customer service clerks, and the accounting office. Assist the Department Manager with overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these departments, ensuring compliance with Harris Teeter's policies and standards.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Performing floor monitor duties
  2. Interviewing and training associates
  3. Planning, assigning, and directing work
  4. Assisting in performance appraisal
  5. Reward and discipline of associates
  6. Addressing complaints and resolving issues
  7. Ensuring completion of Customer Service Store Visit and Loss Prevention Front End Audits
  8. Providing coaching and feedback to associates
  9. Performing duties of customer service clerks, accounting office associates, cashiers, and baggers as needed
Qualifications and Skills

To perform this role successfully, an individual must:

  • Possess supervisory skills and a commitment to outstanding customer service
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be flexible and able to manage multiple tasks under pressure
  • Demonstrate patience with associates and customers
Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred; 1-3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Skills
  • Ability to read, write, and present information effectively in English
  • Knowledge of HT Internet software, email, inventory, spreadsheets, and word processing
  • Basic math skills involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with American units
  • Ability to follow instructions and solve problems using common sense
Certifications and Physical Requirements

Complete company training programs. Physical demands include standing, walking, handling, reaching, talking, hearing, and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds. Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.

Work Environment

Frequent exposure to humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, and cold. Moderate noise level.
