Job Overview
The Forklift Operator II is responsible for completing material movement throughout the facility and grounds by moving, loading, and unloading assets using a variety of material handling equipment at a proficient level, such as a forklift and/or pallet jack.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Pull specific vending and cold drink equipment to fulfill sales request needs
- Ensure all outbound loads are secured and safe by applying protective wrapping as needed and attaching proper documentation (STO)
- Load and unload trailers to support delivery activities following SOPs, updating SAP and CONA via handhelds for accountability of inbound and outbound loads
- Perform safety and housekeeping activities, including pre-and post-trip checks, reviewing documentation for accuracy, and maintaining a clean work area
- Assist with staging equipment, yard maintenance, and other miscellaneous activities as directed
- Utilize a switcher to maneuver 53’ and pup trailers to the dock as needed
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of safety principles, including proper lifting and PPE use
- Advanced forklift skills (single-wide), with safe and efficient operation in small areas
- Basic pallet-jack skills
- Basic mechanical skills and tool usage
- Ability to operate multiple simple machines
- Ability to read and follow SOPs and instructions
- Ability to complete forms (handwritten or digital)
- Verbal instructions comprehension
- Intermediate math skills
- Understanding of productivity elements
- Ability to assess order building, loading workflow, and select optimal paths
- Manage multiple processes simultaneously for system efficiency
- Accurately count and compare received items to manifests
- Follow documentation for loading trucks accurately
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in high/low temperatures, noisy, slippery, and hazardous conditions
- Occasional lifting over 25 lbs., rarely over 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit for long periods and frequently get on/off forklifts
- Open/close truck dock doors
Minimum Qualifications
- Forklift and pallet jack certification
- Switcher operation certification
- Class A CDL where required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in logistics
- Knowledge of truck/trailer loading strategies and weight distribution
Work Environment
Noisy, non-temperature-controlled, with high/low temperature conditions
