Castalia Systems is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to develop, integrate, test, and maintain software across the stack. You will collaborate with engineers, architects, and mission stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable software solutions.

The role requires 8+ years of software engineering, strong Python/Java skills, and experience building web apps with React/Angular, plus a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience including building/testing/integrating/maintaining software.
• 5+ years developing applications in Python, Java, or similar OO language.
• 4+ years building web apps using frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.
• Experience developing or integrating backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL and SQL.
• Experience with automated build, test, CI/CD processes.
• Experience in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban).
• Experience using Jira.
• TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Use modern development tools, frameworks, and cloud technologies to solve technical and mission problems.
• Develop backend services, APIs, data integrations, and user-facing capabilities within existing architectures.
• Participate in design discussions, troubleshoot issues, and review code to improve quality.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to evaluate approaches and improve development practices.

Job Summary

• Systems is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer with the skills needed to develop, integrate, test, and maintain software capabilities from requirements through production delivery. You’ll work across the technology stack and collaborate with other engineers, architects, product owners, and mission stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable and maintainable software solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities

A qualified candidate will perform the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:

• Use modern development tools, frameworks, and cloud technologies to solve challenging technical and mission problems.
• Develop backend services, APIs, data integrations, and user-facing capabilities while working within established application architectures and engineering standards.
• Participate in technical design discussions, troubleshoot application issues, conduct code reviews, and contribute to improvements in software quality and maintainability.
• Work alongside senior engineers to evaluate technical approaches, learn new tools and technologies, and continuously improve the team's development and delivery practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or additional software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including developing, testing, integrating, or maintaining software applications
• 5+ years of experience developing applications using Python, Java, or another object-oriented programming language
• 4+ years of experience developing web applications using frontend technologies or frameworks, such as React or Angular
• Experience developing or integrating backend services and RESTful APIs
• Experience developing applications using relational databases, such as PostgreSQL, and working with SQL
• Experience working with automated build, test, or CI/CD processes
• Experience working within Agile software development environments using methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
• Experience using software development and task management tools, such as Jira
• TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing production applications with Python
• Experience with microservices, distributed systems, or event-driven architectures
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as CloudFormation
• Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab, Github Actions, Jenkins)
• Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration technologies
• Experience with automated unit, integration, or end-to-end testing
• Experience with application authentication, authorization, logging, monitoring, or observability
• Experience working in DevSecOps software delivery environments
• Experience leading projects and mentoring, teaching junior staff members

Salary at Castalia Systems is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, position knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $140,000.00 to $145,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Castalia Systems’ total compensation package for employees.
