Job summary

Snap Inc. is seeking a senior front-end engineer to build state-of-the-art web applications and systems in a fast-paced environment. You will implement features with quality design, optimize performance, and contribute to shared libraries and scalable services.

You will also analyze metrics and leverage AI tooling to ship production-ready code while ensuring security and correctness across front-end projects.

Qualifications

• Understanding of domain driven design principles.
• Experience optimizing JavaScript performance and browser layout rendering.
• Experience with full stack web development and NoSQL/Redis.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS and modern UI frameworks.
• Experience with AI tools and training data workflow integration.
• 6+ years post-bachelor software development or equivalent.

Job description

• Build State of the art mobile and desktop web software applications and/or systems
• Follow high-quality design and implementation practices
• Implement features and user interfaces to optimize performance of user-facing products
• Contribute to Snap’s engineering culture by working on shared libraries and systems
• Log and analyze operational and engagement metrics

• Understanding of domain driven design principles

• Highly proficient in Java, Golang, NodeJs, and/or Python
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience
• Solid knowledge of unit testing
• Adaptability in learning and applying evolving AI systems and tools to remain at the forefront of engineering trends and modern development practices
• Writing code for User Interface components
• Highly proficient in JavaScript (and/or TypeScript), HTML, and CSS
• Proficiency in, or a strong aptitude for, leveraging AI tools to streamline development, paired with the critical judgment to audit generated output for architectural integrity, performance bottlenecks, and security risks
• Ability to identify and resolve performance and scalability issue
• Experience in front end design and/or web application development
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented and functional programming principles
• Experience developing front-end software using Javascript UI Frameworks (i.e React, Angular, Vue)
• 6+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience; or Master’s degree in a technical field + 5+ year of post-grad software development experience; or PhD in a relevant technical field+ 2+ years of post-grad software development experience
• Experience with WebGL, Canvas, WebAssembly, Service workers, or other advanced front-end technology
• Experience with GraphQL
• Experience with large-scale microservices and distributed systems
• Experience with NoSQL solutions, Memcache/Redis, Kubernetes, or Google/AWS services
