Job summary

JLL is seeking a Software Engineer 2 for its Workplace Digital Technology (WDT) team in Chicago. You will design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software to support digital workplace platforms, collaborating with product owners and cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality features.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, contribute to code health, implement CI/CD, and adhere to security and compliance standards while pushing for technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Databricks platform experience includes Python, PySpark and data pipeline development.
• Power BI development skills including DAX, Power Query, and embedded dashboard creation.
• 2+ years of professional software development experience in backend and frontend technologies.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and relational or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and cloud platforms (Azure).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, distributed team environment with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with AI agents and integrating AI/ML capabilities into applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain full-stack applications using modern web technologies and cloud-native architectures.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code with comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Champion shift-left quality practices by embedding testing early in the development lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
• Contribute to documentation, code reviews, and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
• Adhere to JLL's security, compliance, and operational standards.
