Job summary

The Pittsburgh Pirates are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join the Baseball Systems team. You will design, build, and maintain software that supports baseball operations, delivering full-stack features, including APIs, backend services, and frontend components.

You’ll deepen your technical expertise, take ownership, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver reliable tools for analysts, coaches, and front office staff.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with modern web tech and APIs.
• Strong knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript, React, NodeJS, SQL.
• Experience in testing, version control, code reviews, and maintainable design.
• Ability to translate requirements into reliable software solutions for analysts and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with cloud, containers, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain full-stack features (APIs, backend and frontend).
• Propose technical approaches and plan feature work.
• Collaborate with product managers, analysts, researchers, and stakeholders.
• Write tests, docs, and supporting materials to ensure quality.
• Contribute in code reviews and share knowledge with the team.
• Troubleshoot bugs and address issues proactively.
• Pair with teammates to strengthen practices and system understanding.
