Job summary

Cubiq Recruitment is hiring a Full-stack Software Engineer for a robotics and lab automation startup in San Francisco. You will build end-to-end software across React front ends, Node/Python services, and cloud infrastructure to support autonomous experiments.

You will collaborate with scientists and robotics engineers to streamline workflows, ship features from idea to production, and shape the engineering culture as the team scales.

Full-Stack Software Engineer | Robotics & Lab Automation | San Francisco, California

We are looking for a Full-stack Software Engineer to work with one of our robotics clients. They are a well funded unique start-up, operating within the scientific AI space.

If you want to help shape the future of scientific research, developing autonomous robotic systems that work alongside leading pharmaceutical and life-sciences partners, to accelerate scientific discovery.

Robotic systems that operate lab instruments with human-level precision and dexterity.

Intelligent software that analyses results, reasons about next steps, and closes the loop with minimal human intervention.

They've had a production system running in the field for over a year, recently closed a significant funding round, and are now scaling up one of the largest autonomous lab operations in the country. They're a small, ambitious team and this is an early hire.

In this role, you will:

• Build and own the tools our customers use to design, monitor, and analyse autonomous experiments
• Develop internal systems that help the team deploy, operate, and debug a growing fleet of robots in real lab environments
• Work across the full stack from React front ends to Node and Python services to cloud infrastructure shipping features end-to-end
• Collaborate directly with scientists, operations, and robotics engineers to understand their workflows and build software that makes their work easier and faster
• Help shape the engineering culture and technical direction of a product that's redefining how life-science R&D gets done

Let's talk if you have:

• 3+ years of full-stack engineering experience at product-driven companies
• Practical experience building AI-driven workflows into products
• Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript, with experience building production React applications
• Comfort working across the stack: front-end UI, back-end services, and cloud infrastructure (AWS)
• A track record of shipping end-to-end. You've taken features from idea to production, not just written code to spec
• A bias toward action and ownership. You thrive when things are loosely defined and things move fast
• Genuine curiosity about what you're building and who you're building it for
