Job summary

Energy Ogre in Houston, TX is seeking a Full Stack Security Engineer (AWS) to join our high-impact team in person at Greenway Plaza. You will build secure applications and cloud-based tools that support our member experience, reporting to our VP of Software Development.

The tech stack includes C#, .NET Core, React Native, SQL Server, and AWS. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in CS, 3+ years of software development, strong C#/.NET skills, AWS security experience, and familiarity with security

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• 3+ years of software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem (ASP.NET MVC 5, .NET Core).
• 3+ years with C#, .NET Core, SQL Server, and React Native.
• Cloud security background with AWS preferred.
• Security certifications such as CISSP/CCSP/AWS Security Specialty preferred.
• Proficiency in Python or Bash scripting.
• Familiarity with NIST, CIS, ISO 27001.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication to translate technical needs.

Responsibilities

• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle.
• Diagnose challenges, identify root causes, and build scalable solutions.
• Maintain and refactor code; adopt new tech and architectures.
• Design and implement AWS security architecture and IAM controls.
• Embed security into CI/CD with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Monitor cloud infra, perform vulnerability assessments, create runbooks.
• Improve SQL Server procedures and data encryption.
• Implement firewalls, IDS/IPS, encryption controls.
• Execute testing before release to UAT for quality.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
• 3+ years of software development experience
• Strong proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem, including ASP.NET MVC 5 and .NET Core
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with C#, .NET Core, SQL Server, and React Native
• Cloud security engineering background, with AWS preferred
• Security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or AWS Security Specialty are preferred
• Proficiency in Python or Bash scripting
• Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, CIS, and ISO 27001
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while meeting deadlines
• Strong communication skills to translate technical needs for non-technical stakeholders
• Capability to estimate effort accurately and deliver against milestones

Responsibilities

• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements definition through deployment
• Diagnose user challenges, identify root causes, and build scalable solutions
• Maintain and refactor existing codebases while adopting new technologies and architectural approaches
• Design and implement AWS security architecture, including secure blueprints and IAM controls
• Embed security practices into CI/CD pipelines and automate protections using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• Monitor cloud infrastructure for anomalies, perform vulnerability assessments, and create incident response playbooks
• Improve SQL Server stored procedures and implement encryption for data at rest and in transit
• Put in place infrastructure security measures such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and encryption controls
• Apply end-to-end encryption strategies to safeguard sensitive data
• Execute functional and unit testing before release to UAT to ensure quality and performance standards
