Job summary

SGS Consulting is seeking a Java Agile developer to support the US Engineering Team in Austin, TX. You will contribute to the full product lifecycle, prepare functional/design specs, oversee development, and hand off deliverables to QA.

The role requires 5+ years in Java/JavaScript with Java 11/17, JavaFX, Swing, and CI/CD tooling. You will help UI reskin of the Advanced Desktop Communicator without altering business rules or workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional development experience in Java/JavaScript.
• Strong knowledge of Java 11/17, concurrency and collections.
• Experience with JavaFX/Swing UIs and Windows native interfaces.
• Familiarity with build and CI/CD tools (Maven/Jenkins/CMake).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the Agile team and full product lifecycle.
• Prepare specs, oversee development, and hand off to QA.
• Deliverables owned by you across Sprints.
• Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams to meet release timelines.

Job Responsibilities:

This contract position is needed to bolster the US Engineering Team, enabling the fulfillment of feature commitments on our roadmap. You will be an integral part of an Agile team, supporting the full product development lifecycle. This includes preparing functional and design specifications, overseeing the development process, and handing off deliverables to the Quality Assurance Team. You will be accountable for your individual deliverables during Sprints and will collaborate directly with management, other developers, and cross-functional technical teams to manage release expectations and ensure specifications are met. The team needs a Java agile developer who can contribute to UI reskin of their Advanced Desktop Communicator without changing the workflow or business rules of the application.

Skills:

It is essential that the candidate has experience or equivalent with at least 5 plus years of experience in the following:

• Programming Languages: Java, JavaScript. Must have a solid understanding of Java 11/17 including concurrency, collections and streams
• JavaFX (FXML, CSS) and Swing.
• Windows Native: JNI/JBA and interacting with Win APIs
• JunitFlatLaf (Flat Look and Feel) - (framework for reskinning Swing App).
• Build Tools: Maven, Jenkins, CMake and SCONs
• Packaging: Lanch4j
• Logging: Log4J
• Development Tools: GitHub Visual Studio using IDEs: JetBrains (IntelliJ/PyCharm) Tracking: Azure Dev, JIRA
