Job summary

Stripe is seeking a versatile software engineer for the Startup Products team, building Stripe Atlas and related tools to help founders start and run companies globally. You’ll own frontend and backend code, ship impactful features, and collaborate with designers, product managers, lawyers, and analysts to deliver delightful, scalable experiences.

The Startup Products team builds Stripe Atlas and other products that help founders start and run a company, from anywhere in the world. We believe that startups are one of the most effective ways to solve the world's problems, and we want to give founders a running start — and keep them running. We help founders form their company, raise capital, execute critical legal agreements, access the internet's best tools, and automate operations while feeling ambitious, smart, and assured. Our goal is to create more startups that get to product-market fit, fast.

Who you are

Minimum Requirements

• 3+ years of software engineering experience
• Enjoy being a generalist working on both the frontend and backend
• Care deeply about the user experience and take pride in building products to solve problems and delight users
• Prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones, and have a good intuition for what will last and scale
• Thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and partners: we work closely with designers, product managers, lawyers, and analysts
• Have a high quality bar, attention to detail, and helps teammates deliver polished products
• Want to own end-to-end product experiences: product design, architecture, writing lots of code, safely rolling out that code, and doing whatever is needed to ship products that help founders succeed

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with startups and the challenges founders face
• Prior experience with Ruby, Javascript/Typescript, React, and SQL
• Have a track record of building excellent products

Hybrid work at Stripe

This role is available either in an office or a remote location (35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).

In-office expectations

Office‑assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in‑person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

Working remotely at Stripe

A remote location is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on‑sites, meet‑ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently live or plan to live.

Pay and benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $156,800 - $285,600. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
