Job summary

ETHOS - Talent & Advisory is seeking a senior, hands-on full stack engineer to own design, coding, testing, and delivery for a large enterprise web application. You will architect solutions in the morning and optimize PostgreSQL plans in the afternoon, not just write tickets.

You’ll mentor the team on React and Node.js and engage with stakeholders to translate complex details into clear language. You’ll drive end-to-end development, contribute to DevOps pipelines, and ensure high-quality,

Qualifications

• Senior-level full stack development with Node.js and React.js, strong UI and backend architecture understanding.
• Experience building RESTful services with Node.js and secure APIs.
• Expertise writing and optimizing complex PostgreSQL queries.
• Knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, TDD/BDD, and Agile ceremonies; active participation in ceremonies.
• Experience on large teams, resolving merge conflicts and dependencies.
• Ability to mentor teammates on Node.js and React.
• Accountability for code quality across design, development and testing.
• Strong communication skills and collaboration across teams.
• Additional stack exposure: TypeScript, MobX, Flux, Bootstrap, HTML/CSS.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, code, and implement modern web applications in Node.js and React.js.
• Build modular SPA front-ends (React, Redux) and secure RESTful API microservices (Express, Knex).
• Work across the full DevOps pipeline — Jenkins, OpenShift, Docker, SonarQube, UrbanCode.
• Identify and repair defects across front-end, business logic, middleware, or database (PL/SQL, data modeling).
• Write and optimize complex SQL in PostgreSQL.
• Contribute to UX and accessibility compliance (Section 508 / WCAG / USDS).
• Mentor teammates on Node.js and React.
• Brief management, customers, and vendors translating complex technical detail for non-technical stakeholders.

Job description

This is a senior, hands-on full stack position on a large enterprise web application. You'll architect a solution in the morning and be deep in a PostgreSQL execution plan by the afternoon. It is not an architecture-only role, and it is not a ticket-taking role you own design, code, testing, and the quality of what ships.

You'll also be the person other engineers come to. Mentoring the team on React and Node.js is an explicit part of the job, not a side effect of seniority

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Architect, design, code, and implement next-generation web applications in Node.js and React.js
• Build modular Single Page Application front-ends (React, Redux) and secure RESTful API microservices (Express, Knex)
• Work across the full DevOps pipeline — Jenkins, Red Hat OpenShift, Docker, SonarQube, UrbanCode
• Investigate and repair defects at any layer: front-end, business logic, middleware, or database (PL/SQL, data modeling)
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries in PostgreSQL
• Contribute to UX and accessibility compliance (Section 508 / WCAG / USDS Web Standards)
• Mentor teammates on Node.js and React

WHAT YOU BRING

• Experience & education — one of the following:Master's degree + 5 years of relevant experience
• Bachelor's degree + 7 years of relevant experience
• 13+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
• Plus a solid track record designing, building, deploying, and running production applications.

Required technical skills:

• Extensive senior-level full stack development with Node.js and React.js, including detailed understanding of UI frameworks, back-end architecture patterns, and node module capabilities
• Strong experience developing RESTful web services with Node.js
• Expertise writing and optimizing complex SQL queries in PostgreSQL
• Complex programming, debugging, data analysis, and problem resolution within open source applicationsComprehensive knowledge of Scrum and Kanban, TDD/BDD, and Agile ceremonies — scrums, planning events, backlog grooming, retrospectives, demos
• Experience on large teams: managing and resolving merge conflicts, working across upstream and downstream dependencies
• Ability to mentor team members on Node.js and React
• Accountability for code quality and deliverables across design, development, and testing
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
