Job summary

BigBear.ai is building a focused development team to deliver cloud-native applications supporting mission operations. We seek a Full Stack Developer with deep Python expertise and strong frontend craftsmanship, comfortable in classified environments and with a disciplined approach to secure, maintainable systems.

You will design, build, and deliver end-to-end applications—from database schema and data migrations to API layers and the user experience mission users rely on daily.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• 5+ years of hands-on software development.
• Python backend development (Django, FastAPI, or similar; async/ASGI).
• Frontend development with React/Next.js in production systems.
• REST API design with Backend-for-Frontend patterns and schema validation.
• PostgreSQL schema design, optimization, migrations, and data loading.
• AWS experience delivering and operating applications (classified partitions/regions). Terraform (IaC).
• Keycloak and/or OIDC/SAML/CAC-PIV authentication integrations.
• Secure development in STIG-hardened, FIPS-validated environments.
• GitLab CI/CD and Git-based workflows.
• DevSecOps scan remediation (SAST/DAST/SCA/SBOM/container scanning).
• Daily use of AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deliver end-to-end applications—from database schema and data migrations to API layers and the user experience mission users rely on daily.
• Support an established platform while also delivering pilot solutions and MVPs for emerging requirements.
• Extend a Django-based API gateway and services using modern API patterns (including Backend-for-Frontend).
• Build and refine React/Next.js interfaces and dashboards for operational workflows.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, tune queries, and develop migrations to modernize legacy data.
• Integrate authentication/authorization using Keycloak (OIDC/SAML), including RBAC and secure session/token handling.
• Deploy and operate applications across multiple AWS partitions and classification levels.
• Contribute to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and CI/CD (GitLab) in a DevSecOps pipeline.
• Use AI-assisted development tooling as a standard part of your day-to-day workflow to improve velocity and quality.
