Job summary

Apple Inc. in Cupertino is seeking an experienced software engineer to join the Find My team.

You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, delivering features used by hundreds of millions of users while collaborating with hardware, software, and privacy disciplines to ensure a secure, seamless experience. You will design and implement backend services, drive performance, and work with cross-functional teams across product, QA, and Ops.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field with 3+ years of experience.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, OO design, and concurrency.
• Experience building high-scale backend distributed systems in public clouds.
• Strong Java expertise including Core Java, Multithreading, non-blocking IO.
• Experience with unit/integration tests (Jest, Playwright, Cypress).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement Java-based backend services for high-scale systems.
• Improve architecture, performance, and reduce technical debt.
• Collaborate through code reviews and cross-functional teams.
• Own complex features, lead debugging, improve tools and tests.

Description

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, and implementing software solutions, using Java and web frameworks, for high scale Services.
• Drive architectural improvements, performance optimization, and technical debt reduction for long-term scalability.
• Collaborate through code reviews, shadowing senior developers, and understanding cross-functional workflows.
• Take ownership of increasingly complex features, leading debugging efforts and improving internal tools and testing coverage.
• Partner proactively with Product, QA, and Ops to manage dependencies and ensure high-quality, reliable releases.
• Triage, investigate, and remediate production and operational issues.
• Champion process enhancements in CI/CD, testing, and monitoring.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, plus 3+ years equivalent work experience.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals — including data structures & algorithms, object-oriented design, and concurrency.
• Experience in building high scale backend distributed systems using public cloud technologies.
• Strong Java expertise - including but not limited to: Core Java, Multithreading, non-blocking IO.
• Experience writing unit and integration test (Jest, Playwright, Cypress etc).
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity using AI for software development and maintenance, developing machine learning systems, ML frameworks, libraries and algorithms is desirable.
• Familiarity with GitHub, build and deployment tools like Maven, Docker, Spinnaker, Kubernetes.
• Knowledge and experience working with CI/CD tools integration/operations, and full automation testing.
• Experience with large TypeScript code bases with logical organization into components.
• Worked with designers to build user interfaces that stand out.
• Experience in communication with RESTful APIs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a multi-functional team on high-profile, critical projects.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $277,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
