Job summary

UMATR is hiring a Full Stack Engineer with a strong focus on AI to work across the stack from customer-facing features to the AI agents powering them.

You will own systems through architecture, development, deployment and production, tackling challenges around AI agents, large-scale data, and reliable operations in San Francisco.

Strong background in TypeScript, NestJS and React, plus AWS deployment, is required; candidates who have shipped AI components and own features end-to-end are preferred.

Our client is a fast-growing technology company building AI-native products used by FTSE 500 businesses.

The business has grown roughly 10x over the last year, while the engineering team has remained extremely lean. They're now hiring engineers who want to have a big impact on the product and take real ownership from day one.

The Role

We're looking for a Full Stack Engineer with a strong focus on AI.

You'll work across the stack from customer-facing product features to the AI agents powering them.

You'll own systems through architecture, development, deployment and production, working on challenging problems around AI agents, large-scale data and reliable production systems.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building rather than just maintaining existing systems.

What We're Looking For

• 3-7 years of software engineering experience
• Strong production experience with TypeScript, NestJS and React
• Experience deploying and operating applications on AWS
• Has built and shipped AI agents into production
• Strong understanding of system design and production engineering
• Has owned features from architecture through deployment
• Comfortable debugging and resolving real production issues
• Strong software engineering fundamentals

Bonus Points

• Experience building LLM evaluation frameworks
• Experience with feedback loops or self-improving AI systems
• Experience working with large datasets
• Strong observability experience
• Experience with Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot or similar
