Job summary

NEC Software Solutions in the UK is seeking a software developer with 2–5 years of experience to join an experienced engineering team building secure, scalable software for national public‑sector and operational environments.

You will work across back‑end and front‑end technologies, contributing to Java or Kotlin services, Spring Boot applications, REST APIs, integrations and databases, with support from senior engineers and a culture of practical delivery.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of software development experience.
• Hands-on Java or Kotlin with Spring Boot, relational and NoSQL databases.
• Familiar with Git, CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery.
• Test-first attitude and ability to write automated tests.
• Agile team player with clear communication and practical delivery approach.
• Willingness to learn and take on more ownership over time.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain features using Java or Kotlin, Spring Boot and REST APIs.
• Contribute to front-end development using HTML, CSS, JS/TS, React/Angular when needed.
• Write clean, maintainable code and work with databases to manage data.
• Support quality through unit, integration and functional testing and code reviews.
• Use Git, CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with product, QA, design, and DevOps teams.
• Develop good engineering practices across security, performance, accessibility and maintainability.
