Job description

While this is a remote position, the successful candidate must reside within 50 miles of a FedEx Freight location within the continental US.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Leads the design, development and implementation of large scale and complex projects, ensures best practices in architecture, performance and security. Codes, tests and deploys software in all layers of the development life cycle. Provides the necessary documentation. Works with databases, APIs, servers, networks and various programming languages. Mentors team members and driving technical decisions. Works cross functionally with product and business stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Designs software code using multiple programming languages.
  • Architect and develop scalable, secure, and high-performance
  • Tests newly developed software code.
  • Documents code per the Company’s processes.
  • Communicates effectively with colleagues, managers, vendors, user focus groups and comments, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead code reviews and enforce coding standards and is compatible with all hardware and software.
  • Guide and mentor junior and mid-level developers.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools.
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in computer science, engineering, or information systems and/or directly related work experience
  • Five (5) years’ work experience in information technology or engineering. A related advanced degree may offset some of the related work experience requirements
  • Expert-level knowledge of front-end and back-end frameworks
  • Deep understanding of software architecture and design patterns.

  • Proven computer/coding skills in multiple languages

Preferred Skills/Knowledge

Strong proficiency in Java for building scalable backend services, enterprise applications, and API-driven solutions. Experience developing modern, responsive user interfaces using Angular and implementing component-based front-end architectures. Solid expertise in Spring Boot for developing microservices, RESTful APIs, and cloud-ready applications. Strong knowledge of relational database technologies including DB2 and Oracle, with experience in database design, performance tuning, SQL optimization, and data persistence using JPA (Java Persistence API). Proven ability to design and implement full-stack solutions by integrating Angular front-end applications with Java/Spring Boot backend services. Experience with API development and integrations (REST/SOAP), including connecting enterprise applications and third-party systems. Strong understanding of software development best practices, including object-oriented design, design patterns, version control using Git, and automated testing frameworks. Experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions to support automated build, test, and deployment processes. Ability to lead technical discussions, mentor junior developers, and contribute to application architecture and technology roadmap decisions. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, collaborating closely with product owners, business analysts, QA teams, and cross-functional stakeholders. Strong problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills in complex, enterprise-level environments.

Pay Transparency

The compensation listed reflects the pay range or rate of pay reasonably expected for this posted position at the posted location(s). If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the pay information represents the minimum and maximum range for all levels. Actual pay is determined by job-related factors permitted by law and relevant to the position, such as experience, tenure, market level, pay at the location for this job, performance, schedule, and work assignment. Pay Range: $83,799.00 - $160,894.00

Illinois Pay Ranges: Effingham, Kankakee, Lincoln, Quincy, Rockford, Aurora $83,799.00 - $160,894.00; Bolingbrook, Chicago Heights, Des Plaines, Elmhurst, Forest View, Joliet, Schaumburg, Summit-Argo, Zion $83,799.00 - $160,894.00

This compensation range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting pay range in NJ. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay is determined by experience relative to the job, market level, specific location and other job‑related factors permitted by law. Regular full & part-time employees (who complete 91 days of employment and work a minimum average of 12 hours per week) are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, and/or vision coverage, tuition reimbursement. Full/part-time employees who are age 21 are eligible for 401(k) after one month of employment.
