Job summary

National Information Solutions Cooperative, Inc. (NISC) is hiring a Software Developer II for Meter Data Management Software (Full Stack) at any NISC location.

You will contribute to the Meter Data Management Software Development team, building scalable full-stack solutions that leverage Databricks, Delta Lake, and AWS to enable analytics, billing validation, and data quality. The role emphasizes collaboration with Product, Data, UX, and Engineering teams, design discussions, and automation,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Experience as Software Engineer or Data Engineer in a full-stack, cloud-based environment
• Experience building and optimizing data pipelines and datasets
• Proficiency with Databricks, Delta Lake, and Big Data tech (Spark, Kafka)
• Experience with AWS services (S3, Lambda, EC2, EMR, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch)
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes, metadata, and workload management
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (Oracle, Postgres, Cassandra, DynamoDB)
• Proficiency in object-oriented languages such as Java or Scala
• Knowledge of containers/orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams
• Commitment to shared values at NISC

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack applications and data engineering solutions
• Build and optimize data pipelines and datasets for analytics and reporting
• Work with Data Warehouse and Lakehouse architectures (Databricks, Delta Lake)
• Collaborate with Product, Data, UX, and Engineering teams to deliver solutions
• Participate in architecture and design discussions and guide technical direction
• Create and maintain data tools to improve accessibility and reliability
• Identify opportunities for automation, scalability, and system optimization
• Provide progress updates and communicate risks and dependencies
• Explore agent-based features to enhance user experience
• Adhere to SDLC best practices for quality, performance, and security
