Job summary

Pinecone is seeking an Applied AI Engineer who loves building real applications with AI. You’ll work across the stack—from backend services and retrieval pipelines to APIs and user-facing interfaces—turning new AI capabilities into working solutions.

You’ll collaborate with engineering, product teams, customers, and partners to explore use cases, build reference apps, and demonstrate what’s possible with Pinecone’s technology.

Qualifications

• Strong full-stack engineering background with production apps experience.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript, with React or Next.js.
• Experience building APIs, external service integrations, and cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to take a project from rough requirements to deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship end-to-end AI applications using Pinecone's retrieval and knowledge infrastructure.
• Develop full-stack solutions spanning frontend, backend, APIs, data pipelines, and LLM integration.
• Build reference applications, integrations, and reusable components for developers and customers.
• Experiment with AI patterns such as RAG, agents, tool use, and context engineering.
• Work with customers and partners to translate real-world problems into working software.
• Evaluate and improve quality, latency, and cost of AI-powered apps.
• Share technical insights through code, examples, and content.
• Bring learnings back into Pinecone's product and engineering teams.
