Job summary

University of California, San Francisco seeks a full-time academic surgeon in General Surgery for the San Francisco VA Medical Center and UCSF Health locations. Board eligibility/certification and strong leadership in clinical programs are essential. Fellowship in MIS/ Foregut/ Hernia or Advanced GI Surgery is preferred.

The role includes outpatient clinics, OR days, on-call coverage, and inpatient rounds with collaboration across UCSF teams. Eligible for VA appointment.

Qualifications

• Board eligible/board certified in General Surgery at the time of hire.
• Fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery, Foregut, Hernia/Abdominal Wall Reconstruction, or Advanced GI Surgery is preferred.
• Expertise in open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery.

Responsibilities

• Provide General Surgery services at the San Francisco VA Medical Center and UCSF Health clinical sites.
• Develop and grow a focused elective general surgery practice with outpatient clinics and scheduled OR days.
• Provide emergency general surgery call coverage and daily inpatient rounds in collaboration with General Surgery teams.
